Huawei overtook Samsung to take first place in sales of the global foldable smartphone market in the first quarter of 2024, Business Korea writes, citing data from Tech Insights.
Huawei sales increased by 257% compared to the same period in 2023. Huawei leads the book-style foldable smartphone market, but Samsung still holds the top spot in sales of clamshells with flexible displays.
No less impressive growth rates in the market for smartphones with flexible displays are demonstrated by other manufacturers: Motorola (+1260%), Honor (+480%), Vivo (+331%) and Xiaomi (+41%). But it is not disclosed over what period these indicators were achieved and what market share well-known manufacturers retain.
Samsung was the first company to introduce a foldable smartphone in 2019. Samsung initially reached 60-70% share in this market, but now the company is facing stiff competition from Chinese manufacturers. [Business Korea]
