YouTube is introducing a bug in the like button that causes the “likes” icon to disappear when pressed. As stated by 9to5Google, the video platform has been out of service for several hours this Tuesday (4). The problem appears to be global, as it is seen in many countries and on all browsers.
Some users even thought that the like button was not working, but YouTube counts likes normally. The icon disappears only when the button is pressed. It is easier to notice this in videos that have a low number of likes.
In fact, the error appears to be related to a simple aesthetic defect. In tests conducted by TecMundoWe managed to detect the problem and confirmed that the likes were working.
YouTube bug only affects PC version
It is worth noting that the problem with the YouTube like button only occurs when the site is accessed from a PC. Everything seems to be normal in the Android and iOS app and when accessing the website via mobile phone browser.
According to this BorderGoogle has not yet made an official comment on the issue. The site also stated that, according to Reddit users, the same malfunction had occurred before.
In 2017, YouTube had a flaw that caused two users to be counted for each subscription. This resulted in some channels having a negative number of subscribers for several hours.
