The development uses principles of mathematical psychology and can predict when the user is experiencing joy, boredom, irritation, rage, despair or anxiety. According to scientists, such a model will enable computers to become more intuitive and sensitive to users’ emotions.
For example, the computer will be able to predict a person’s anger and offer additional instructions or change the course of the interaction. Currently, AI technologies often do not take user emotions into account, which negatively affects user interaction.
The researchers are confident that their development will enable computers to better understand users and make interacting with them more enjoyable. In the future, computers will not only be able to recognize emotions but also control them.
