Due to current events in October, Apple waited with anticipation of American interest. I think you do too. The most interesting thing there has to be a completely updated base iPad.

Thanks to Apple’s uncertainty and ultra-conservative approach, for many years in a row, the most basic iPad provides more than 90% of the capabilities of the top-end and at the same time protects the 99% of protected almost all consumers. If you buy Pro, then you need the same 1%. If you buy Air, then you just don’t want to pay extra for Pro.

The base iPad was the best iPad for the money, without a doubt. Now everything is different.

The new 10th generation iPad is a solid WTF

Go.

Has risen in price for 120 dollars or 130 euros. The old model started at $329, the new one starts at $449. In Europe, the price has risen even a little more than in the US. In percentage terms, the novelty of the previous generation by 36%!

Fundamentally made worse than the iPad Air. It’s not about the hardware, few people seriously expected the M1 processor in the device. It’s in the body. Incompatibility with pre-existing iPad Air or Pro accessories that have been previously discovered. They could not have changed anything, but they deliberately worsened everything – why?

This is how the Pencil should cling to an iPad with rectangular edges. Nothing prevents you from doing the same in the new basic iPad.

Only supports old Pencil. This is completely beyond my understanding. There are Apple transfer devices in the Air case, with noticeable edges, but the time and effort to deprive this case of the magnetic connector for the Pencil 2 and the reflector with it. Really too many Pencil have done, and thus their sale is repeated?

The 6th generation iPad mini is perfectly compatible with the Pencil 2 and is magnetic. The basic iPad is not. What is the logic?

The pencil will not charge without a paid adapter. After all, there is lighting, but in the USB-C tablet. So pay an extra $9 so your $99 style can even be paired with a brand new tablet.

The transition itself is terrible in its logic: the iPad connects to the USB-C cable, the USB-C cable connects to the adapter, the adapter connects to the Pencil. Three events, four items. WTF?

The camera is in the right place for the first time. Hooray, finally put the camera in the iPad where it should be – under the horizontal orientation. Thank you for this. Maybe they did the same in the latest iPad Pro, which they also noticed on the same day? NO. And then why??

The base model is still 64 GB. The price has increased, there is no memory. Even current iPhones now have at least 128 gigabytes. By the way, do you know why they did this in the new iPad? Because the Air has only 64 GB so far, and then it would look unprofitable in the lineup. And it must be sold.

The “new” Hover feature for the iPad Pro M2 is a sham. This already applies not so much to new iPads as to markers of observed situations. Are you aware that absolutely all iPads with Apple Pencil are a long, long time ago an explicit preview of the point of contact of the stylus with the frequency? Not? Surprise:

one. Open Settings -> Accessibility -> Larger

2. Turn on. We clamp the control on the connected keyboard. We drive the stylus over the spread without touching it, and we are surprised.

Hover is a 100% software feature that works great on absolutely any iPad, not just the new iPad Pro with M2. There is nothing to add here.

Everything that happened to the iPad is not an accident.

After researching the topic, I was left with the impression that Apple needs the basic iPad to look like the best buy. And so, through the redesign, medical facilities have been specifically created for anyone who wants to use a slightly larger device. Overselling trap.

Want to Pencil? Catch a whole pack of embarrassments. Not only do you need to buy and use only the old Pencil, which is found to be removed from sale in the next year and a half, you also need to buy and buy paid adapter, and keep a USB-C cable handy so you can charge at all. Hello, you have a rectangular face on an edge! Well, what else is the old Pencil?

Want to keyboard? Nothing from the old will not work, even the Magic Keyboard. Please buy a simplified, new version of MK that ONLY supports with this iPad. In this simplified version, for some reason, there is an additional number of functions that are not used. Yes, MK for iPad Air and Pro didn’t even contribute to the upgrade, about suggesting an improvement for the “budget” model…

And most importantly, why buy such a tablet, tied to a closed and half-closed set of accessories, if there is an iPad Air on sale? With M1 processor, current Pencil support, multi-platform Magic Keyboard and convenient charging.

As if Apple is specifically pushing the buyer to this thought. Yes, you can take an inexpensive iPad, but getting something multi-purpose out of it will run into inconvenience, and you will have to throw out accessories if you later want to upgrade to Air or Pro. Maybe it’s better to take the same Air? Mmm?

The Magic Keyboard Folio only fits the new base iPad. At the same time, it has a new row of keys.

It wouldn’t cost anything to take a case with magnets from the iPad Air and put a simpler processor. Instead, the product was deliberately cut in possible features to degrade the functionality of those who dared not materialize for the iPad Air.

The best value for money iPad no longer exists. More precisely, it still exists, but is no longer in the current lineup: the 9th generation iPad, nicely and officially remaining on sale. This device rates 100%. Because iPadOS still doesn’t offer much even in the most expensive iPad Pro.

A new incomprehensibility for whom is made. As if to spite those who requested a redesign a long time ago and didn’t want almost twice as much for the Air, much less the Pro. This is a personal opinion, but everywhere there are consequences of observing marketers in a company who were able to “bend” engineers. And this is wrong.

However, with what has been happening with iPadOS lately, there is a strong feeling that Apple does not understand at all what to do next with the iPad. The fear of losing a Mac sale gives rise to meaningless, seemingly misguided features like Stage Manager. The inability to ignore software problems indefinitely.

As long as you don’t stress. Therefore, I have what I have.
