The Yakut movie projector manufacturer Extra Cinema raised 100 million rubles. The funds will be used to launch a production and assembly workshop with a capacity of up to 2,000 film projectors per year. The project was created, among other things, with the aim of import substitution: Extra Cinema projectors cost five times less than their foreign counterparts.

The NTI Sovereign Technologies Fund (FTS) invested 100 million rubles in the cinema projector manufacturer Extra Cinema. This was reported by the press center of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).

“Extra Cinema” will use the funds to launch a production and assembly workshop with the capacity of up to 2,000 film projectors per year, to develop a digital platform and replenish working capital.

The “Cinema Extra” project was created, among other things, in order to substitute imports. The company’s projectors are five times cheaper than foreign ones, the press service notes.

“Extra Cinema” launched a pilot program to equip movie theaters with projectors in small cities in 2022; 30 movie theaters were equipped in Yakutia. The company plans to open another 120 movie theaters in the near future.
