Fiona Harvey this is the name of a woman who, in real life, claims to be Martha from the series. Little deer played by Jessica Gunning and pursued by comedian Richard Gadd.
In a lawsuit filed Thursday in federal court in California, Fiona Harvey accuses Netflix of defaming her through claims in the series that she is a twice-convicted stalker sentenced to five years in prison for sexual assault. The streamer and showrunners “told these lies and never stopped telling them because they were a better story than the truth, and the best stories made money,” the complaint states.
“Reindeer Baby” establishes that Martha sent Gadd more than 41,000 emails, 744 tweets, 100 pages of letters and 350 hours of voicemails over several years.
The lawsuit alleges that Netflix “did literally nothing” to substantiate the show’s claims about Harvey, which are presented as a true story.
“He never investigated whether Harvey was convicted, which is a very serious misrepresentation of facts,” the complaint states. “It did nothing to understand the relationship between Gadd and Harvey, if there was one at all. “He did nothing to determine whether the other facts, including the assault, the alleged stalking or the conviction, were accurate.”
What does the real Martha ask for?
Fiona Harvey is demanding at least $120 million, including the streamer’s revenue from the series. He filed lawsuits accusing them of defamation, negligence and violation of the Right of Publicity Act.
Harvey says she has never been convicted of any crime. She denies stalking or assaulting Gadd, physically or sexually. Therefore, he demands damages for these “lies of the series.”
