Previously, such damage was covered under warranty as long as there was no visible additional damage or point of impact. Such repairs will now be considered “accidental damage” and users will have to pay for them themselves.

According to media reports, this policy change communicated to Apple stores and authorized service providers eliminates the “tolerance” previously shown by some service providers.

The new policy only applies to iPhones and Apple Watches for now, while single cracks on iPads and Macs are still covered by the standard warranty.
