In the age of computer games and a wide variety of plastic toys, wooden figures have lost their popularity, but are still just as interesting. There was a time when wooden toys produced at the Bogorodsk factory gained fame far beyond the borders of Russia. Today, next to the factory, a museum has been opened – “Carved Fun”, in which tours and master classes are held, where you can assemble and decorate the toy yourself.

In the village of Bogorodskoye, various handicrafts have been produced for a long time. Initially, local peasants sold their handicrafts to neighboring towns, and at the beginning of the 20th century, a woodcarving school was opened here (which will eventually become a full-fledged factory). Now anyone can come here and see the whole process of making wood crafts.

First of all, you will see how the master carvers work. The guide will tell you how the woodcarver trade came about, how they are trained, what type of wood they work with and what crafts they create. Seeing the master’s work live is a pleasure, in professional hands, a block of wood seems very elastic.

After getting acquainted with the profession, you will be offered to make an original wooden toy yourself, but do not worry, you will not have to cut anything. Each participant of the tour will be provided with various pieces of wood and will be offered to assemble a toy, and then paint it on their own. Get an interesting souvenir.

Then you will be taken to an exhibition in the museum, where, in addition to simple wooden figurines, there will be interesting and touching toys. In one of the corridors, you can even hit with a huge hammer together with the bear.

After the end of the tour, you can visit the souvenir shop and buy an interesting figure as a souvenir. It is also worth talking about the area around the museum, where large wooden statues are installed. Here you can meet a peasant and a bear, swing on a swing and visit a local cafe.

The ticket price for an adult is 200 rubles, for a child 150 rubles, the cost of the tour is up to 400 rubles, and the cost of creating a toy with your own hands ranges from 450 to 850 rubles. The museum is open seven days a week from 10 am to 4 pm. Museum address: Moscow region, Sergiev Posad district, rp. Bogorodskoe, 79b.
