After we talked about how Samsung would begin production of the 3nm chip even standing behind the colossus TSMCthe company was able to officially confirm everything and thus spoke about the novelty in question, as explained on the pages of Bloomberg and also acquired by The Verge, who researched the question. As far as TSMC is concerned, on the other hand, we would speak of an early start, at least for the second half of 2022.

As explained, the behemoth wants to run a process on 45% more efficient compared to what we saw with i 5nmwith performance de 23% better and less than 16% occupied territory, in the hope that in the future there will be a way to create a second generation of the 3nm process with 50% less consumption, 35% smaller size and 30% better performance. This is an announcement designed to make sure of what has been seen so far thanks to TSMC who, as they know, will have the chance to dedicate themselves to everything in a while.

As the giant explains, the chip will initially be produced for high performance and low-consumption applications, but in the future everything will be included for the mobile world as well. Currently, production started in South Korea in Hwaseong, before moving an expansion to Pyeongtaek in the future, Bloomberg explains. As for Texas, where the company should have a way to handle it, there doesn’t seem to be a way to accomplish anything until 2024.

We will see how the situation develops over time, pending the opportunity to receive a response directly from TSMC regarding its future plans.
