Unilever has decided to localize the names of its brands in Russia. The first products with the new Russified name will go on sale in August 2024, a Unilever representative told RB.RU.
“This will allow the company to more effectively manage critical risks, for example in the event of counterfeit detection, and respond quickly to requests for additional documents from partners and government agencies,” Unilever said.
Unilever Rus LLC produces products in Russia under more than ten brands, many of which have English names. For example, sanitary ware cleaning product Domestos will be renamed Domestos, Cif will become Sif and Dove will become Dove.
In 2023, Henkel’s former Russian division Russified its brand names: Persil became “Persil,” Vernel became “Vernel.”
