Soon creators will be able to define two thumbnails for the same video on YouTube. This Tuesday (11) the platform announced that channel owners will be able to: try different covers for a single post to test the uptake of each.
The thumbnail of a YouTube video serves to present the content and attract the viewer’s attention. A good thumbnail should not only present information clearly, but also capture the user’s attention to the point of convincing them to click on the video.
Content creators of major channels know the importance of a good thumbnail, but this requires an in-depth evaluation of the features of the cover and a good understanding of the target audience. Since a publication can only have a single cover, this evaluation often requires the release of multiple videos.
A. YouTube’s proposal is to provide more ways to understand how thumbnails affect the perception of the video. With the new tool, creators will be able to add two covers to the same content and monitor how each of these images performs in terms of adhesion.
Once published, the video author will be able to check the statistics of each thumbnail and the most liked thumbnail will be marked with a tag.
Therefore, users may notice that video thumbnails change more frequently. This change should be more visible on content marked “Watch later” where it’s saved to the personal library.
According to YouTube, The new product started to be distributed on Tuesday (11). The feature is likely to be rolled out gradually, but having a qualifying account is required to test it.
