Tesla shareholders easily pay Elon Musk $56 billion in bonuses and move their headquarters to Texas. Musk said the decision was made by a landslide.
This is the second time shareholders have voted on the largest compensation package in US history.
The previous vote took place in 2018. Then Tesla shareholders increased the payment to Elon Musk of $56 billion over 10 years to determine results and financial indicators, which he did.
However, in January 2023, a Delaware court overturned the shareholders’ decision. At the same time, Musk changed Tesla’s registration from Delaware to Texas.
Although Tesla shareholders easily paid out $56 billion for the second time, this does not mean Musk will automatically receive the money. Tesla has not yet filed an appeal of the Delaware court’s decision on what it needs to do to allow Musk to pay the reward.
Changing your registration from Delaware to Texas may speed up your appeal.
Musk himself, shortly before the announcement of the threats, abandoned Tesla if it refused Payments. The fact that shareholders decided to use Mask proves his great influence within the company. [Reuters]
