WhatsApp today (13) announced several new features for voice and video calls in the PC and mobile version of the app. Among the highlights, messenger from now on share screen with voice.

The new tool allows users to transfer content from their own devices with video and audio, just like modern communication platforms such as Discord, Google Meet, Teams and Zoom.

Additionally, WhatsApp video calls can now be attended by up to 32 people simultaneously. For such situations where dozens of participants are added, the Meta platform has announced another tool.

In conversations with a large number of people, the person speaking will be highlighted on the screen to make the conversation more understandable and followable.

Highlighting “Speaker” makes it appear first on the screen, so everyone knows who is speaking.

WhatsApp also announced that it will have MLow codec support. Meta promised that this new encoder will “improve call reliability” by delivering clearer audio and images under changing connection conditions.

In the same statement, the platform also mentioned that calls made with mobile devices have better noise and echo cancellation features, making communication clearer. Additionally, when there is a good internet connection, video calls can deliver images in even higher resolution.

Unfortunately, the platform did not specify when the news would be made public. New features will probably be rolled out to users gradually. The ideal way to have access is to keep the app updated.
