The system surpassed Apple’s iOS for the first time in the first quarter of 2024, becoming China’s second largest mobile operating system.
HarmonyOS’s market share increased from 8% in the first quarter of 2023 to 17% in the first quarter of 2024. At the same time, iOS’s share fell from 20% to 16%.
This marks the first time that iOS market share in the country has decreased since the first quarter of 2019. This dynamic is partly explained by the launch of Huawei’s new 5G smartphones that compete with Apple products.
Note that HarmonyOS’ growth is not limited to China. On a global scale, its share doubled and reached 4% in the first quarter of 2024.
Android and iOS showed a slight decrease from 78% and 20% to 77% and 19% respectively.
