If such a decision is taken, this will be the first precedent for sanctions in the EU against one of the world’s largest IT companies. Apple is accused of violating the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
According to the authorities responsible for making such decisions, Apple does not have the right to prohibit developers from specifying alternative addresses in the App Store for downloading iOS applications and the ability to pay for purchases in other payment services and impose its own commission.
If Apple is fined, the EC will start charging the company up to 5% of its average daily revenue, which is $1 billion per day.
