The service received complaints from citizens about advertising a debit card on the television channels “First”, “TNT” and “Friday”, as well as on the radio station “Russian Radio”.
The announcement said that “Alfa-Bank was the first in Russia to cancel all commissions for transfers and payments.”
The FAS notes that information about important restrictions on conditions was published “in a manner inaccessible to perception.”
The department believes that the bank’s actions may mislead consumers and contain signs of violation of the advertising law. If the organization is found guilty, Alfa-Bank will receive a fine.
- In April, the FAS opened another case against Alfa-Bank for illegible footnotes in advertising.
- In February 2024, the FAS opened proceedings against Alfa-Bank due to illegible footnotes in an announcement about the abolition of acquisition fees.
- In November of last year, the department opened a case over illegible footnotes in credit card advertisements and loan advertisements, and in December over illegible footnotes in an advertisement for interest-free annual use of the card.
