Apple has suspended modifications to the 2nd generation Vision Pro to focus exclusively on the budget version of the helmet, a source told The Information.
This happened at the end of last year, when the company gradually assigned fewer employees to the project. Now Apple has announced that at least one of its suppliers has put the Vision Pro 2 on pause.
All efforts are being devoted to developing a budget version of the helmet, which will cost no more than $1,600. Apple began development of it in 2022 and plans to release it at the end of 2024. But as of early this year, the company didn’t have a prototype ready.
Apple is trying to find ways to reduce the cost of the helmet without ignoring any problems. To cut costs, Apple may install lower-level screens and use a less powerful processor.
The device is expected to be presented at the end of 2025, but it is possible that its release will be delayed until 2026. [Appleinsider]
