Rospotrebnadzor confirmed the presence of botulinum toxin in salads, which caused a massive outbreak of botulism in Moscow and regions of Russia. This is stated in the department’s message.
“Rospotrebnadzor laboratories identified botulinum toxin in the remains of finished products,” the department noted.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, more than 700 samples of biomaterial were taken from both poisoned people and finished products. About 200 tons of dangerous products were withdrawn from circulation, more than 2,000 people were interviewed together with the Ministry of the Interior, and more than 100 declarations of product conformity were cancelled.
On June 19, suppliers and producers of salads were identified, the consumption of which caused massive botulism poisonings. As part of the investigation, three people were placed under house arrest: the general director of LokalKitchen LLC (“Local Kitchen”) Anton Lozin, the head of the quality department of this company Elena Mashkova, as well as the commercial director of Savon-K LLC Vladimir Shin.
