The Neural Processing Unit (NPU) of the iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 17.5.1 scored 6,000 points, and after updating to the first beta of iOS 18, it scored 7,816 points, a 25% increase.
As mentioned, this performance increase is explained by a new ML core architecture called MLTensor. Apple expects an increase in the power of the iPhone 15 Pro from 2% to 700% in MobileNet v3 for SSD MobileVit v2, respectively.
This performance increase will accelerate the interaction of Pro iPhone 15 models with neural networks and generally make it easier to perform a number of artificial intelligence functions.
