The electromagnetic waves required for wireless communication create many unwanted interferences, making data transfer difficult in today’s Internet of Things networks and robotic artificial intelligence systems.

Using a new algorithm, scientists were able to dynamically optimize multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), which is key to modern wireless systems such as Wi-Fi and cellular networks. Their technique, published in a special issue of the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications and highlighted in Nature Reviews, shows how algorithms can tune wireless waves to effectively manage interference in real time.

As part of the study, the researchers successfully optimized MIMO waveforms over a specific frequency range, confirming the effectiveness of the method in noise-rich environments. This development opens up new opportunities to provide reliable and secure communications in high-density device and network conditions.
