Problems with the water supply in Capri were the reason for the ban on tourists visiting it. The situation was quickly resolved, but Mayor Falco’s ban on receiving guests remains.

The restrictions on the Italian island were introduced on the morning of June 22, ANSA reported. Authorities said they would not be able to guarantee basic services for the “thousands of people” who flock to Capri every day during the Christmas season.

It is possible to reach the island, but only if the tourist has a reservation in a hotel “with sufficient water resources to guarantee hospitality.” Documents must be presented at the ticket office when purchasing a ferry ticket to the island. Queues have formed at the ports from where ferries leave for Capri.

It should be noted that the water supply situation on Capri has deteriorated dramatically after a major leak on June 20 in the pipeline that supplies both the island and the Sorrento Peninsula. On the afternoon of June 22, the problem was resolved. There is no information yet on when restrictions for tourists and businesses on the island will be lifted.

We previously wrote that the Norwegian authorities have tightened entry rules for Russian citizens. Since May 29, Russians arriving there for tourism and other “non-essential” purposes have not been allowed to enter the country.
