According to a recent report, Microsoft is considering providing temporary access to Xbox Game Pass for watching ads.
Thus, users can access the service for 15 minutes for each ad unit displayed. This model may be particularly attractive for low-income markets, where purchasing a full subscription may not be affordable for many players.
Microsoft has already conducted surveys among Xbox users about the possibility of such an exchange of game time for watching ads.
References to a system that provides access to Game Pass based on “earned time” were also found in the Xbox operating system code.
The new offering could be available as early as 2024, but it’s unclear whether this will be available for all markets or only certain regions.
