Telegram launched TON Dating, a dating service that has not yet generated much interest among users. The platform will be free for women, and for men a monthly subscription will cost about 5.7 thousand rubles, which is significantly higher than other applications. Payment can be made using Telegram Stars virtual currency. Developers promise multi-stage verification to prevent bots and anonymous users from appearing.
Veronika Yakovleva, co-founder of dating app Twinby, noted that such blanket verification could scare users away. According to him, the registration process is slow, which can lead to loss of interest among new users. The onboarding conversion to a good app is typically 50-60%, but higher attrition is expected here due to long engagement.
Investments in the creation of TON Dating amounted to 100 thousand dollars, and the developers hope to attract more than 1 million active users within three years, focusing on the CIS, Middle East, North Africa, European and Asian markets. Andrei Bronetsky, head of dating site Mamba, explains the high cost of subscriptions for men, targeting premium markets outside Russia. However, the app may face risks if Telegram decides to abandon this feature.
