The accusation was the EU’s first official move against a tech company under new rules introduced under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Apple has already delayed the rollout of AI in Europe due to regulatory uncertainties surrounding the DMA.
The Commission also launched a parallel investigation into changes Apple made to comply with the DMA, including allowing third-party app stores.
If a company fails to comply with EU requirements, it faces fines of up to 10% of global turnover.
