Roskomnadzor demanded that the developers of the Opera and Google Chrome browsers block extensions that allow you to bypass the block on the Internet. Interfax writes about this.
Links to the plugin that violates the law are included in the Unified Register of Prohibited Information, the department noted. The law prohibiting the dissemination in Russia of information on how to bypass blocking on the Internet has been in force since March 1, 2024.
If the extension is not removed from browsers, developer companies face a fine of up to 4 million rubles. If the law is violated again, the fine will be negotiable and its amount will depend on the company’s annual income.
