This API allows you to provide all documents stored in wallets in case of such a request from sources to identify the user. In this case, you will not need to scan the document.

Documents that sites can request through this API, and only through the mobile version of Chrome, include passports, driver’s licenses, and similar documents. However, only the user will decide whether to accept the request or not.

It is unknown when the feature will be released publicly.
