Sber, Alfa-Bank and T-Bank decided to join together in a consortium to create a unique QR code. The service should become an alternative to the express payment system, writes Izvestia.

Other actors may join the consortium, with whom these banks are currently discussing the architecture of the future project.
Its creation will take place in several stages: collection of applications, formation of conditions and rules for managing the association, after which an agreement on its creation will be signed.
“The creation of a unique QR code by a consortium of banks will take the security and convenience of payments to the highest level,” said Denis Kuskov, director of the TelecomDaily research agency.
Meanwhile, NSPK is also jointly testing its universal QR. 15 banks and several Russian trade and service companies are taking part in the service tests. The press service of the organization explained that when paying in this way, the buyer only needs to scan a universal QR code, after which a page will open on the smartphone screen with a list of various payment methods – through SBP or through other payment services.
