As noted by Elena Avakyan, deputy chairwoman of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers (FPA), this practice is successfully used in China. There, the entire legal process for such transactions is carried out online. Court decisions are also made via the Internet.

“It is quite logical that disputes related to Internet transactions are brought to court through the Internet. The idea of creating Internet courts, in this case, is completely justified,” Avakyan told the Interfax agency.

He said that in China these courts hear tens of millions of cases a year. According to her, courts without in-person representation will help avoid, in particular, disputes over territoriality and jurisdiction.

For example, an online store that operates solely online may be geographically located in remote regions. And online courts will allow you to enforce decisions and pay fines at the actual place of residence or registration.

The creation of online courts will reduce the burden on the judicial system as a whole, the FPA vice president noted.
