Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden commented on the statements, highlighting the “risks facing British democracy in an increasingly fragile world”. He noted that there was a “growing problem in cyberspace” with “hostile foreign organisations” supporting “specific British political parties and agendas” that suit their “own interests”.
Similar accusations have been made in the past. So, the publication recalled that last year the British center responsible for the protection of electronic intelligence and information of the government and armed forces of the United Kingdom (GCHQ, in short) suspected Russia of involvement in a cyberattack on the country’s election commission.
