The Investigative Committee and JSC Irkutsk Electric Grid Company (IESK) disconnected a mining farm in the Irkutsk region from electricity because its owner was not registered in the register of miners of the Federal Tax Service (FTS). This is stated by the IESK Telegram channel. They noted that such raids will be carried out periodically.

“The day before, energy engineers and law enforcement officers checked an object whose electricity consumption program showed signs of mining activity. During the inspection of the territory, a container was discovered in which about 200 ASICs were working,” IESK reported.
They added that the identified mining farm consumed more than 600 thousand kWh of electricity per month, which is comparable to the energy consumption of 80 to 100 private homes. The miner was not included in the register of the Federal Tax Service.
The procedure for legalizing cryptocurrency mining was explained to the owner of the farm, after which the miner was disconnected from the electrical grid, the message clarifies.
Cryptocurrency legalization: what has changed for miners and companies?
Previously, the government approved a ban on mining in Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and other regions, which will be in effect from January 1, 2025 to March 15, 2031 in order to maintain a balance in energy consumption taking into account the demands of the industry.
At the same time, in some territories of the Irkutsk region, Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory, cryptocurrency production will be limited during peak energy consumption. In 2025, they will fall in the period from January 1 to March 15, in subsequent years – from November 15 to March 15.
Cryptocurrency mining became legal in Russia on November 1, thanks to a law Vladimir Putin signed in August. A legal entity or individual entrepreneur engaged in mining must be included in the corresponding register of the Federal Tax Service.
