Specialists from the Almaz design bureau, part of the domestic USC, have developed a project for the Kunashir passenger ship, designed to travel in Arctic waters. It is based on the project of multipurpose icebreakers of the 23550 series.

The Kunashir ship is designed to carry passengers across the Northern Seas with the possibility of landing on unequipped shores, as well as cruises in the Arctic and Atlantis. Its missions also include research expeditions, drone and helicopter equipment, excursions and boats for exploring local attractions.

The Kunashir liner is designed for up to 74 passengers and is equipped with comfortable cabins of various classes, including options with a porch. The crew consists of 55 sailors. The ship has a displacement of about 9,000 tons, is 112 meters long and about 20 meters wide. “Kunashir” is capable of passing through ice up to 1.7 meters thick (Arc7 ice class) and has an autonomy of up to 35 days with a maximum range of up to 8,000 miles at economical speed.
