The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, did not rule out blocking WhatsApp in Russia, RIA Novosti reports.

The messenger can be blocked on the basis of non-compliance with Russian laws.

There is no decision to block the WhatsApp messenger in Russia. But I would like to remind you that WhatsApp, which belongs to the extremist company Meta*, has repeatedly violated and continues to violate the laws of our country – courts regularly fine the company for failure to comply with the rules of work in the Russian Federation.

According to the deputy, WhatsApp does not cooperate with the Russian authorities, especially in combating terrorism and extremism.

Sooner or later, if the messenger administration does not change its behavior, the state’s patience will run out, and WhatsApp may suffer the fate of the entire Meta*.
