At the same time, the number of transactions decreased by 7.5% to 6.23 thousand. The decline was observed for the ninth consecutive quarter due to investor caution. The average transaction size was $14.4 million (an increase of 17% over the year).

Previously, analysts predicted that the venture market would recover to 2020 levels in 2024 (the peak occurred in 2021). However, the risk of investing in startups in 2023 has increased due to geopolitical issues, rising interest rates and persistently high inflation.

The second quarter of 2024 saw a record market share attributable to deals with startups in the field of developing AI-based solutions: 28%, or $18.3 billion.

On a quarterly basis, the market grew by 32%, with the main contribution coming from deals with Elon Musk’s xAI (the company raised $6 billion, or almost 10% of all funding) and CoreWeave, which deals with cloud computing in the field of AI ($1.1 billion).

Earlier, RB.RU published the results of venture capital for the second quarter of 2024. In total, from April to June, investors made 32 transactions for a total amount of $19.8 million. In February, a large transaction of the True Gamers gaming club chain worth $45 million significantly influenced the total investment volume.
