The department recalled that according to the law, information disseminated without the use of the media must contain reliable information about its owner or distributor. It must be presented in a volume that allows the blogger to be identified.

The requirement also applies to personal pages of social network users, but in most cases it is not enforced. Now it can be specified and extended to those users whose daily audience exceeds 1,000 people, RKN clarified.

The department added that this is not a registration with Roskomnadzor, but rather “a notification to the regulator that the account owner is disseminating information.”

At the same time, the initiative also stipulates that Russian companies will be prohibited from distributing their advertising on public pages whose users have not reported it to Roskomnadzor.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor reported that YouTube blocked 83 Russian channels in 2024. This is three times more than in 2023. The department considered this an act of censorship and condemned the actions of the video hosting site.
