According to Tom’s Hardware, the research center will specialize in the development of innovative technologies in various fields. In particular, HiSilicon chips, 5G and 6G technologies, smartphones, automobiles and digital energy technologies will be developed here.
The science city is divided into eight separate areas, with roads between them. 40 thousand offices have been built here and in the future there will be trains and overpasses.
The center is expected to employ 35,000 scientists and engineers. The implementation of the Qingpu project began in September 2021, and the investment volume amounted to about 1.4 billion US dollars.

According to Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei, the company was inspired by the American Lakeside resort in Chicago. He added that the Yangtze River Delta is an excellent environment suitable for foreigners, where the company’s 700 to 800 foreign workers “will not feel like they are in another country.”

As the publication clarifies, Huawei needs to strengthen its own research, as the company has borne the brunt of US sanctions against the backdrop of worsening relations between Washington and Beijing.
In June, the Chinese manufacturer presented a beta version of HarmonyOS, an operating system based on its own architecture and completely independent of Android.
