Despite numerous microcode, BIOS, and firmware updates, Cassells reported that the issues persisted, causing significant disruptions to the studio’s multiplayer game Path of Titans. Players using these processors have reported thousands of crashes, and the development team has experienced frequent instability on their Raptor Lake-powered PCs.
Intel has acknowledged the issues and is investigating them, but Cassells believes the problems are more fundamental. He argues that the initially stable processors degrade over time and eventually fail almost everywhere. As a result, Alderon Games has decided to move all of its servers to AMD processors, citing much greater stability.
The studio even issued in-game warnings warning players not to use 13th and 14th-generation Intel chips.
