Wired reports that AT&T paid $370,000 to hackers who stole call and text data from nearly all of its subscribers.

The attacker demanded $1 million in bitcoins from the operator, but the amount was significantly reduced during negotiations. The negotiations were conducted through the Reddington organization, and the hacker sent a video of the complete deletion of all Ukrainian information. However, Reddington believes that some of the data may still remain outside the Internet.

A security researcher involved in the deal said he believed the only copy of the full set of call and text message data for “almost all” AT&T customers had been destroyed, but some risks may remain.
