Elon Musk announced yesterday that the offices of X (formerly Twitter) and SpaceX will be moved to Texas (16). The decision comes after the approval of the law regarding the identification of children as transgender in California schools.
“This is the final straw,” Elon Musk wrote on his old Twitter account, X. “Due to this law and many laws before it that attack families and businesses, SpaceX will now be moving its headquarters from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas,” he continued.
The billionaire said he “made it clear” to California Governor Gavin Newsom: Such laws would “force” families and businesses to leave the state to “protect children”.
This was the final straw.
Because of this law and many others that preceded it, which attacked both families and businesses, SpaceX will now move its headquarters from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas. https://t.co/cpWUDgBWFe

A new law that has Elon Musk furious would ban California public schools from notifying anyone, including parents and guardians, if a child identifies as transgender.
Other reasons
However, this may not be the only reason why X changed the address of its offices. Cost of living is lower in Texasthe government collects less taxes and environmental regulations are less strict.
Most of Elon Musk’s companies are already based in TexasTesla announced the move in 2021; the billionaire’s space company SpaceX also has a launch base, control center and factory in the state.
Elon Musk has a transgender daughterbut she is no longer in a relationship with him since 2022. The woman legally changed her name and said she does not want any relationship with her biological father.
