Researchers discovered that Pinterest recently suffered a major data breach. A pseudo-database of about 6 million records was leaked to information sharing forums.
The data packet was published by a user identified as “Tchao1337”. After compression, The file weighs approximately 1.59 GB..
A The nature of the data has not yet been disclosed.The leak therefore does not contain accurate information. However, the information the group found suggests that users are already at some risk.
According to Cyber PressThe leaked data responsible for discovering the leak includes:
- E-mail addresses;
- Usernames;
- User identifiers;
- IP addresses and more.
The person responsible for the publication said: “The authenticity of the data cannot be verified”.
For example, by viewing the registration email, Pinterest users may be targeted by attackslike E-fraud or social engineering attacks.
Pinterest has not yet commented on the matter. The group Cyber Press contacted the social network and is still awaiting a response.
