“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, commenting on Biden’s withdrawal from the race in a conversation with CNN, called his competitor “the worst president in the history” of the United States.
Joe Biden’s refusal to participate in the election is the first time in more than 50 years. In 1968, then US President Lyndon Johnson withdrew from the election after an unsuccessful campaign.
Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor as the Democratic nominee.
On June 27, the first electoral debate between the candidates of both parties, Joy Biden and Donald Trump, took place in the CNN studios. The current president’s unsuccessful performance provoked criticism from the media and his fellow party members towards the 81-year-old politician.
