Apple plans to release at least one iPhone 17 model with a mechanical aperture in 2025.
This technology allows you to manually adjust the aperture for the main blur of portraits. iPhones can do this now, but only through software.
The new sensor is expected to make blurring more effective.
The technology itself is not new for smartphones. For example, a mechanically adjustable aperture was already in the Samsung Galaxy S9 in 2018.
Most likely, such a camera will appear only in the iPhone 17 Ultra (Slim). It will cost more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max and will receive a new design.
