Thanks to additional training of the neural network, it now more accurately perceives the wishes of people with stuttering, cerebral palsy and the consequences of paralysis.
The Yandex team conducted large-scale testing with the participation of non-profit organizations such as the Center for Healing Pedagogy, Live Now, and others.
More than 300 people participated in the project and over 855 thousand speech fragments were recorded. This increased the accuracy of impaired speech recognition by 20% and reduced the difference with normal speech.
The project is part of Yandex’s efforts to create inclusive technologies. For example, the “Home with Alice” mobile app already supports screen access software that helps people with visual impairments.
According to Yandex representatives, the company is working on digital accessibility of its services. 15 services, including Search, Browser and Yandex.Music, are already adapted for visually impaired users.
You can find movies with subtitled commentary on Kinopoisk, while the Go app has special options for people with special needs, such as “I only communicate by text” and “Carry a guide dog.”
