According to Kommersant, companies have already begun testing imports of alcoholic beverages from Brazil and India. Next in line are Serbia, Tunisia and Algeria.

In July, Moro received declarations of conformity for the supply of more than 30.2 thousand bottles of Brazilian sparkling wines Salton Prosecco Rose and Salton Prosecco.

Simple Group started buying wines from “friendly” countries, including those from the New World, including Brazil and Uruguay, as well as from China and India. In addition to these countries, the Luding Group is studying the possibilities of importing from Serbia and Tunisia. Fort started supplying sparkling wines from Argentina and South Africa, which until then were imported to Russia only in limited quantities.

WineRetail director Alexander Stavtsev recalled that Brazilian wines were previously supplied to Russia, but their sales were not very successful. However, this country is considered a major supplier of sparkling wine, unlike Argentina and Chile.

  • The Finance Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry and the Economic Development Ministry considered in June the issue of increasing duties on wine from “hostile” countries in August. The increase could be 25%. An increase in taxes on strong alcohol is also being discussed.
  • In early spring, the Association of Winegrowers and Oenologists of Russia demanded that import duties on wines from NATO member countries be set at 200%.
