Apple has simplified the process of restoring a Mac with macOS Sonoma in DFU mode.
A Mac may enter DFU mode on full power during a macOS update. Restoring it requires a second Mac.
Communication for recovery used the Apple Configurator application. But macOS Sonoma has a built-in Apple Configurator in Finder.
The Finder restore process is the same as Apple Configurator, except that users no longer need to download a separate utility.
However, the two Macs still need to be connected via USB-C and must be running macOS Sonoma in order to use the Finder for recovery.
