The global Libresse brand is owned by Swedish personal care provider Essity. In 2022, the Swedish company announced its withdrawal from the Russian market, and in 2023, a deal was concluded to sell the business to new owners for $117 million.
The terms of the agreement stipulated that the Libresse brand should be Russified in 2024. The company noted that Russification will not affect the composition of the product, production technology or product cost.
The new owner of the Swedish Essity business in Russia is New Technologies LLC, owned by businessman Igor Shilov (now Essity Hygin Products LLC), and the CEO is Artyom Lebedev, who previously held the position of director of the consumer paper production division in Russia of Essity LLC.
On June 19 of this year, Essity LLC, owned by Essie Hygin Products, changed its name to Evolution Comfort LLC (EvoCom LLC).
Essity has been operating in Russia since 1994 and produces Zewa toilet paper, Libresse sanitary pads, Libero and Tena diapers and Tork branded products. The company had factories in the Tula and Leningrad regions.
During 2024, the Tena and Tork brands will also be Russified. Zewa brand products will continue to be manufactured under the same name.
