NSF experts predict that by the end of 2024, the fitness industry’s turnover will also increase by 18%, up to 200 billion rubles, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports, which has read the analytical report.

Already in the first half of the year, “the industry’s turnover amounted to 121.5 billion rubles, which is 24% more than in the first half of 2023,” said the managing partner of FitnessData, and this corresponds to the declared growth dynamics of 18-19%.

One of the catalysts for the growth of sales and attendance in the industry, according to the director of the National Fitness Community, Elena Silina, in recent years has been clubs that offer “fitness by subscription” (membership based on recurring payments, i.e. automatic payments).

In clubs using this business model, as a rule, all processes are automated: booking, turning on exercise equipment, entering locations using applications, and the number of staff in the building is minimal (or equal to zero).

At the same time, the cost varies from 1.5 to 2.3 thousand rubles per month (which is equivalent to an annual membership of 12 to 15 thousand rubles, and such amounts are practically not present on the market).

“The subscription allows us to attract a huge number of audiences that are completely new to fitness. Currently, this represents 35-45% of clients who were not previously interested in fitness. In addition, the good location of these clubs allows them to reach a large part of the population within a 15-minute walk,” Borovikov explained about the trend.

In addition to “fitness by subscription”, the studio format is also gaining popularity: its popularity among Russians has grown by 40%. Experts also point to a negative trend in the industry – rising costs, which is largely due to the depreciation of foreign simulators.
