In January-June 2024, 140 million unique mobile numbers of Russians, as well as 46 million unique email addresses, were leaked online, according to a study by the Russian data leak intelligence and darknet monitoring service DLBI, the results of which were reviewed by RB.RU.

According to analysts, the volume of identity theft has recently been growing at a rate of about 40% annually. At the same time, compared to the first half of 2023, the number of breaches decreased from 207 to 144 incidents, and the volume of information leaked online increased by only 14%.
In fact, the contact details of almost all Russians are publicly available, experts estimate. Fraudsters use this information to trick people using social engineering, as well as to attack businesses.
