Of course, you’ve probably heard of the drug Ozempic. It was initially developed to treat type 2 diabetes. But it was later discovered that it also helps with weight loss, reduces the risk of heart problems, and protects against cognitive decline. Ozempic even helps you quit smoking.
Ozempic is prescribed worldwide for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and weight loss.
If you want to feel full for longer, oats are a proven dietary choice. In a new study, researchers looked at beta-glucan, which is found in large amounts in oats.
Experiments were conducted on mice. When they ate oats and a diet high in fat and sugar, they gained much less weight, their fat mass decreased, their muscle mass was better preserved, insulin sensitivity and blood sugar levels increased. Beta-glucan was also found to change the gut bacteria of mice. They began to produce beneficial metabolites: butyrate in particular. It stimulates the release of GLP-1, signaling to the brain that you are full. It is similar to Ozempic in many ways.
However, the GLP-1 agonist effects of oats are much less potent than Ozempic, so it will not help you lose weight effectively.
