Kommersant reports that from January to April 2024, imports of Intel processors to Russia fell by 15 times: 20 thousand components were delivered compared to 289 thousand for the same period last year.

According to the source, in monetary terms, the drop was 12-fold, to 297 million rubles against 3.5 billion. A similar situation is observed in the supply of AMD processors – in just four months of 2024, 17 thousand processors were supplied to the Russian Federation for an average of 142 million rubles, a total of 258% in physical terms and 321% in monetary terms.

In 2022–2023, Russian companies had outstanding contracts for the supply of processors, for which it was necessary to report early, since the funds were sent but the components were not received.

According to the director of the company Promobit, Maxim Koposov, small Russian manufacturers who purchase processors from distributors do not experience a shortage of components. But large sellers who buy Intel and AMD chips directly in other countries may use the services of suppliers due to the lack of supplies to the countries. This may threaten the suspension of electronics production at some companies and a temporary shortage of domestic offers for servers, data storage systems, computers or other equipment running on Intel and AMD processors.
