Diabloweb is powered by WebAssembly, which allows the game to run effectively across different browsers without the need for special software. The project adapted it to work with JavaScript by removing all dependencies from the original game code; this required significant changes to event handling and menu processing.
To play, users must load their own DIABDAT file. MPQ, which contains game data. This file may come from a copy of the game purchased through GOG. However, there is also a free version of the game, a shareware version of Diablo. The game is playable, although it offers a “limited” experience.
